La primera vez que alguien conduce un coche eléctrico se sorprende por su aceleración. Así, en los modelos convencionales con mecánica térmica, uno de 150 CV, por ejemplo, la potencia máxima se va alcanzando a medida que el motor sube de revoluciones y solo se consigue al llegar al máximo. Pero al empezar a acelerar o arrancando en un semáforo, a lo mejor solo tenemos 30 o 40 CV.

Los modelos a pilas tienen un uso sobre todo urbano, por eso, una de las claves para que gasten poco, es acelerar suavemente. Y cuanto más a punta de gas se lleven, dejándoles que ganen velocidad sin prisa, más eficientes son y más autonomía ofrecen.

Frena sin prisa

los vehículos eléctricos aprovechan la energía cinética al desacelerar para recargar las baterías. Los más eficientes pueden recuperar el 30% de lo gastado al acelerar en el mismo trayecto mientras retienen en la siguiente frenada.

Velocidad adecuada

Cuanto más aumenten la velocidad, pierden eficiencia y suben proporcionalmente el consumo mucho más que sus equivalentes con motor térmico.  conviene elegir la velocidad justa, que como mucho debería estar en los límites legales, porque la diferencia de consumo entre ir a 100 km/h o a 120 km/h puede superar el 30% en autopista e incluso más, si hay subidas prolongadas.

Acelerar en las bajadas y aprovechar la inercia en las subidas

Con los eléctricos hay que aprovechar las bajadas para acelerar, coger impulso y ganar velocidad, porque es cuando al coche le cuesta menos esfuerzo. Y luego, al atacar las subidas, intentar mantener el ritmo acelerando lo justo para aprovechar su elevada inercia, porque la mayoría se acercan o superan los 2.000 kilos por el sobrepeso de las baterías.
